The Chief pays homage to Chicago's Native American roots, as Chicago served as home and trade center for many Native American nations including the Pottawatomie, Miami, Illinois, Chippewa, Foxes, Shawnee, and Winnebago. While most Chicagoans believe that the word "Chicago" translates to "Smelly Onion," many historians discount this, believing the word "Chicago" was instead intended to translate to the term "Great & Powerful," a more than fitting association for this humble yet respect-demanding, fashionable bicycle.
