What a great deal. This bike is a little heavy but for the price you can't really beat it. It's stylish and comfortable to get around on.

Purchased for cruiser parts, but assembled and ridden for testing and taking advantage of the warranty in the event of mechanical problems. The Cranbrook is beautiful and exceeded my modest expectations. It arrived in good condition. Grease had to be applied to the bottom bracket, so it was a good idea to take it apart for inspection. Both hubs were opened, inspected, given additional grease (marine boat trailer grease), and carefully adjusted with a 13mm and 15mm cone wrench. All points of metal to metal contact were greased for protection and making fasteners easier to tighten.Other reviewers on the web were right about pointy metal burrs on the spoke nipples causing flat tires. I gently hammered the soft metal burrs smooth with a pair of pliers before installing the tubes and have only had one slow air leak in the first week, which was quickly corrected with aftermarket Slime tire sealant. The inner edges of the valve holes were very sharp, so I made washers from a scraps of inner tube and a hole punch to protect the valve stems. Both rims were slightly warped from loose spokes, so a 12 gauge spoke wrench was needed to get them rolling straight and true. The wheels took a few days to break in and now stay true after long rides. The inexpensive pedals use simple sleeve bearings instead of ball bearings. They felt odd at first as the grease spread out along the shafts after slumping toward one end from being in storage zip tied to a wheel for so long. It took 30 minutes of riding for them to feel right, and they have been trouble free ever since. This is a great bike that rides beautifully as long as it is adequately lubricated and assembled with care and attention. I expect it to last for many years. I'm glad I bought and built one. It's nice to have a simple one speed bike with no basket or cargo rack for smooth recreational riding. It weighs 36.6 pounds with the fenders and chain guard on. Handling is excellent with graceful and tight turning. My Cranbrook was modified with a 20 tooth sprocket and loose ball bearings in the headset, since I had those parts on hand and wasn't impressed with bearing cage life on another bike's headset. Huffy's handlebar stem was defective. A one degree misalignment made the left grip one inch higher than the right, leading to shoulder pain. Huffy quickly responded to my warranty claim. The saddle's nose was squeaky despite several applications of silicone spray, so I put an old cruiser sadddle on. Huffy's saddle was surprisingly comfortable on long rides. The bike rolls like a dream with minimal friction. The fenders work in puddles and look beautiful. It has been very reliable for 3 months and 960 miles of moderate riding. I love it.- - -See comment #2 about why I lowered the rating from 4 to 3 stars.- - -See comment #3 about why the rating declined to 2 stars.
